No Rest for the Weekend’s coverage of the Tribeca Film Festival continues with Suitable Flesh, a new erotic thriller/horror feature based on the HP Lovecraft story, The Thing on the Doorstep directed by Joe Lynch and starring Heather Graham, Barbara Crampton, and Jonathan Schaech.

Graham stars as a psychiatrist who becomes possessed by an ancient evil entity. Graham describes her role as “juicy.” She went on to say, “I just thought it was a super interesting, and complicated role. I love that the character is a super-intelligent therapist and just how nuanced the character is, and of course the body swap aspect was really fun.”

In the Lovecraft story, Graham’s role is a man. It was director Joe Lynch’s idea to gender swap the role to make the film more contemporary. Lynch was thrilled to work on the project and be at Tribeca saying “How am I feeling right now? I want to vomit. I want to pee. But most importantly I wanna hug everybody here because movies like this don’t get this kind of treatment, and the fact that we’ve been embraced by not just by the New York cinema crowd, not just by the Tribeca crowd, not just by the horror crowd, just people who love movies, to be here for that, it’s a dream come true.”

Screen legend Barbara Crampton ( Re-Animator, From Beyond) who stars as Graham’s confidant also produced the film. She spoke about the journey of getting the picture made and bringing it to Tribeca. “It’s very meaningful to me, and I do have to say that all the actors that we have in the movie: Jonathan Schaech, Bruce Davison, Heather Graham, Judah Lewis are fantastic in the film… Joe Lynch is an amazing director… to get the opportunity to bring this vision to life with all these players, all these great actors is just amazing. I’m so grateful to everyone who worked on it. “

Suitable Flesh will play at the Tribeca Film Festival tonight and Friday night. Visit the festival website for details.
