This year’s Tribeca Festival featured an extensive lineup of documentaries from profiles like 1–800-On-Her-Own to the less conventional Group Therapy. Satisfied is another show business profile story, but this one has a personal touch.

There have been many show business profile pieces about Broadway stars, but this one is different. Renée Elise Goldsberry was already a successful working actor when she was cast in what was then a workshop production of Hamilton which would later take her star to new heights. She’s an incredibly talented performer, and we certainly see that here, but the film not only tells the story of Goldsberry’s career, it centers on her journey to become a mother.

Satisfied is told largely from Goldsberry’s point of view with much of the footage shot by her, vlog style. She tells her deeply personal story of becoming a mother in detail, at times in what some may consider a bit too much detail, but perhaps a story like this will be helpful to women in similar circumstances.

If you’re an aspiring performer, an aspiring mother, a Broadway fan who just can’t get enough Hamilton, or all three, this is the film for you.
