Hosted by Jason Godbey
On this episode, we’ll hear from Queer Voices NYC co-founder Brandon Smith plus an update on upcoming film festivals including New York Film Festival, Chelsea Film Festival, and NYC Web Fest.
2nd annual Queer Voices NYC Film Festival will be hosted at the Historic Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Center and is set to run from September 27th to September 29th. This three-day event focused on centering and celebrating LGBTQ Filmmakers of color will highlight the stories of 39 LGBTQIA+ identifying filmmakers from around the globe and New York City’s five boroughs.
QVNYC is making its mark as one of New York City’s most diverse and intersectional film festivals, with a lineup that includes World premieres, US premieres, and New York City premieres representing over 10 countries. Our program will include over 30 films both in person and virtually, including shorts, features and documentaries.
QVNYC kicks off on September 27th with a special 20th Anniversary screening and celebration of Rodney Evans’ trailblazing film, Brother to Brother. This landmark work in queer cinema vividly portrays the Harlem Renaissance, exploring themes of race, sexuality, and history.
The festival continues on Saturday and Sunday with a packed lineup of films, industry panels, and professional development workshops, curated to boost career opportunities for media creatives.
For more information, visit the festival website, and be sure to follow us here for more film festival coverage.
