Dark Sky Films Bringing Genre Bending Surrealist Noir to Theaters and Digital/VOD Platforms July 12th

Here’s what you need to know: A genre-bending surrealist noir set in the 1950s, The Blue Rose follows the one-night journey of two rookie detectives as they set out to solve a seemingly clear-cut homicide, only to find themselves in an alternate reality of their worst nightmares. The Blue Rose is directed by George Baron and stars Olivia Scott Welch ( Fear Street: Part One — 1994, Shithouse), Danielle Bisutti, Nikko Austen Smith, Glume Harlow, Jordyn Denning, Evee Bui, Sophie Cooper, Logan Miller, and Ray Wise.

Impressions: The eye-catching trailer, makes this one look weird and wild with director Baron using some old fashion film techniques to enhance the surreal tone of the film. The rookie detectives look like kids playing dress-up, but perhaps that’s part of the appeal? Not sure if this one is a go-out-and-see-it in the theaters or catch it on streaming, but it’s refreshing to see filmmakers attempting to do something different.
