Mother May I? Director Laurence Vanicelli
Hosted by Jason Godbey
On this episode director Laurence Vanicelli talks about his latest film, Mother May I? starring Holland Roden and Kyle Gallner. In the film Anya (Roden) and her fiance Emmet (Gallner) move into Emmet’s recently deceased mother’s home. Emmet is forced to confront he deepest traumas when Anya starts behaving like his mother. Is she exploring some experimental roleplay therapy or is there something more supernatural at work?
Mother May I? has all the elements of a spooky, atmospheric horror. A country home far from town, a young couple planning for their future, and a pending sense of dread. The effectiveness of the film rests on the shoulders of Roden and Gallner both of whom deliver powerhouse performances. Vannicelli builds the tension of the film slowly in the manner of classic performance based horror films like Rosemary’s Baby. Mother May I? is currently available on Amazon Prime.
Next week we’ll bring you an interview with actor Joseph Melendez who is a member of the SAG-AFTRA negotiating committee. He’ll shed some light on the reasoning behind the strike, and we’ll take you to the picket lines here in New York City.
