Interview by Eric McClanahan

In this excerpt from episode 1605 of No Rest for the Weekend, director Kevin Smith talks with Eric McClanahan about his latest film The 4:30 Movie which has been called his “most personal film to date.” Smith talks about the personal nature of this film and how most of his filmography has been autobiographical to some extent. He also talks about this film being the first he’s made since quitting marijuana.

The 4:30 Movie is a coming-of-age story about a group of teenagers growing up in New Jersey who hang out at the local movie theater. The film was made at a movie theater in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, where Smith grew up. A few years ago, he bought the theater and renamed it Smodcastle Cinemas. The 4:30 Movie was well-liked by fans and critics alike. You can watch Eric McClanahan’s review here.
