This year we had the opportunity to cover the red carpet of The Muse Awards, presented by our friends at New York Women in Film and Television, where I was fortunate enough to speak with filmmaker/actor Jennifer Esposito once again. We first met her last year at the Tribeca Film Festival for the premiere of her directorial debut, Fresh Kills.

In this excerpt from our video on the awards, she talks about the upcoming release of Fresh Kills and speaks candidly about navigating the entertainment industry landscape as a female filmmaker and the changes she’d like to see in the industry in the future. It’s rare to have a celebrity be so frank, and I really appreciate her honesty. She speaks from the heart, and you can tell she’s passionate about her craft.
