Event to Take Place on January 24th, in partnership with Acura and co-host IMDb Pro

For the second consecutive year, GLAAD joins Frameline and NewFest, the country’s two largest LGBTQ+ film festivals, to celebrate queer cinema and filmmakers at the 2025 edition of the Sundance Film Festival. “Cheers, Queers,” an afternoon of conversation and party, will take place in Park City on Friday, January 24, at the Acura House of Energy at 550 Swede Alley. “Cheers, Queers” will be presented in partnership with Acura and co-host IMDbPro.

The event will be introduced by Frameline Executive Director Allegra Madsen, GLAAD Special Media Consultant Ryan Mitchell, and NewFest Executive Director David Hatkoff. Programming will include a “Trans Stories and Storytellers” panel featuring Zackary Drucker (Director, April & Amanda), Aud Mason-Hyde (Jimpa), and more, moderated by Alex Schmider (Senior Director, Entertainment and Inclusion at GLAAD), and a “Raising Our Voices” segment featuring to-be-announced talent. The panel will be followed by a mixer to toast the LGBTQ filmmakers and community members in attendance.

“It’s more vital than ever to carve out intentional spaces where queer cinema and creators can be celebrated at Sundance Film Festival,” say Frameline, GLAAD, and NewFest in a joint statement. “This event is not just a celebration but a reminder of the transformative power of LGBTQ storytelling to foster connection, inspire change, and elevate the diversity and complexity of our community. Our organizations are proud to unite for the second year in a row in Park City for an afternoon that uplifts queer voices and honors the incredible talent driving these stories forward.”

The 2025 Sundance Film Festival lineup contains a range of queer representations, including queer narratives, actors, characters, and/or filmmakers in a number of the feature films and episodics, across both fiction and documentary projects.
