This week we bring you the latest on upcoming movies, the latest upcoming release dates for Cocaine Bear, 65, A Good Person, Super Mario Bros, Renfield, Fast X, The Flash and more… And we’ll take you the premiere of the newly restored 1988 documentary, One Hand Don’t Clap at the Museum of Modern Art featuring interviews with the film’s director, Kavery Kaul and Susan Lazarus of the Women’s Film Preservation Fund/New York Women in Film and Television.

One Hand Don’t Clap is a look at the world of Calypso music as told by two of the genre’s biggest stars, Lord Kitchener and Calypso Rose. It features concert footage from Kitchener and Rose as well as Black Stalin and various artists performing during carnival in Trinidad. The film is a joy to experience, and the restoration is excellent. It immortalizes its characters some of whom have passed on, and captures the soul of the musicians and the music they love. With the newly completed restoration of the film, plans for the re-release of One Hand Don’t Clap are currently in the works.

Kavery Kaul is an award winning documentary filmmaker. Her latest film, The Bengali follows an American writer to India where she seeks the truth behind her ancestry. For more information her website is KaveryKaul.com.

The Women’s Film Preservation Fund was founded in 1995 in partnership with The Museum of Modern Art and NYWIFT with the goal of preserving films by women. FOr more information, visit their website.
