[Sunday, July 17th- Bellmore, NY] Last night the 25th Annual Long Island International Film Expo concluded with an awards ceremony hosted by comedian Kevin “Dotcom” Brown ( 30 Rock) and featuring a star-studded cast of honorees and presenters including: Tara Westwood ( The Grudge), Lukas Hassel ( The Blacklist), Sal Rendino (Billions), Chad L. Coleman ( The Orville), and Greg Cergol (NBC News). Producer Jeff Waxman ( Don’t Look Up) was honored with the “Excellence in Film & TV” award but was unfortunately unable to attend.

Catherine Curtin ( Stranger Things) received the “Excellence in Creative Achievement” award. When asked how she felt about being honored by the festival, she said, “I’m so grateful, and I’m so proud. I’m so humbled… To me it’s not about the end result. It’s about creativity and how does that manifest itself in your day as an artist and what is the mandate of your heart and your soul. I think that’s truly extraordinary.”

Festival Founder/Director Debra Markowitz was on hand to answer questions from various media outlets. I had the chance to catch up with her on the red carpet (video above). For more on Debra Markowitz’s work, check out Episode 1018 of the podcast, and follow us here for film festival coverage and our full episode on the Long Island International Film Expo.
